The other day, this happened to me. My computer would not turn on. After tinkering with it for a few minutes, trying to turn it on, nothing happened. When I bought a new computer, I suddenly realized that something was missing. My iTunes. Probably some of the most valuable data on my computer. Gone. Luckily, I had all my iTunes music on my iPhone. After doing a little searching, I ran across an application called iRip by The Little App Factory. I read about it a little more, downloaded it, then did a little happy dance around my bedroom.

What iRip does, is it lets you transfer music from your iPhone or iPod Touch to your Mac or PC. This is exactly what I was looking for! iRip is simple, reasonably priced and has a great user interface. It does exaztly what it says it does, takes music from your iPhone/iPod and moves it to your iTunes. It is cross platform, so it runs on windows and OS X.

Pricing:

Free trial: up to 100 song transferrers.

$19.95: unlimited song transferrers.

$29.90: unlimited songs on up to five computers.

The Bottom Line:

iRip is a GREAT application. You may think it is a little spendy, but it’s totally worth the price.

You can download iRip for yourself by clicking here.

Sick of not being able to tweak your iPhone? Want more features? In this post I will be telling you how to easily Jailbreak and install Cydia on your iPhone or iPod Touch with Blackra1n.

[NOTE: Currently, Blackra1n does not work with iPhone OS 3.1.3]

Steps:

Download Blackra1n by clicking HERE.

Once Blackra1n is installed and opened, plug in your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer.

Click the “Make it rain” button in Blackra1n.

Wait for your iPhone or iTouch to restart.

Once your device restarts, there should be an app on the home screen called Blackra1n, open it.

Once opened, you should be given the option to download Cydia, Rock, etc.

That should do it! Once you have Cydia and/or rock installed, you can download apps, themes and tweaks to make your device your own! If you run into any problems Jailbreaking your iPhone or iTouch, simply restore your device in iTunes.

I plan to do a few more posts in the near future giving you some tips for Jailbreaking and telling you what I think you should download from Cydia/Rock.

I hope this helped you Jailbreak your iPhone! If you have any questions, Email me at colby@cpaleytech.com!

Have you ever ran across a shortened URL on Twitter or any other social networking site and wanted to see what website it would lead you too if you clicked it? Realurl.org is a website that simply lets you take a short URL and see what website it would take you to if you clicked it. It is useful if you do not trust the person that is giving you a shortened link and want to see where the link is going to take you BEFORE you click it.

Update: Realurl.org seems to be down as of May 31st 2010. Hmm..

Do you want to know what just about any website looked like last year? Well there’s a website that will show you! This website lets you enter in a URL and view archives of that website. So for example you could enter Apple.com and it will show you a list of dates and when you click one it will show you what that website looked like on that day. It does not stop there. You can even click around on the website just as it looked like on that day.

I think this pretty cool and I spent about an hour reading about Apple’s old products on their own website. Here is a link to the website: http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

What do you think?
