Have you ever ran across a shortened URL on Twitter or any other social networking site and wanted to see what website it would lead you too if you clicked it? Realurl.org is a website that simply lets you take a short URL and see what website it would take you to if you clicked it. It is useful if you do not trust the person that is giving you a shortened link and want to see where the link is going to take you BEFORE you click it.

Update: Realurl.org seems to be down as of May 31st 2010. Hmm..

Here’s a little tip about how to crop your photos on your iPhone without using a 3rd party app from the App Store.

Zoom in on the photo that you want to crop. pretend that by you zooming you are cropping it.

Now, to save the photo that you have zoomed in on or “cropped” make sure that you tap the screen and make sure there are no menu bars on the screen. Take a screenshot by pressing the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time. your screen will flash white and your “cropped’ photo will appear in your camera roll.

Now you have it! You have just cropped a photo on your iPhone! I know that this post is going to be short and you might already know this but I just wanted to quickly share it with you.

URL shorteners have played a large roll in making Twitter awesome because without them you would not be able to post most links on Twitter because of the 140 character limit. My favorite URL shortener is Bit.ly because of the super short URLs and the way that it counts how many people click your links.

The only downside to URL shorteners is that you do not know where the links are going to take you. Even if someone says that it is going to take to you their article about cooking it may take you to a site that downloads viruses to your computer.

So watch out. Make sure that you are only clicking the links that the people you trust have posted.

UPDATE: Find out how to unmask shortened URLs here!

If one of your friends on Facebook says something on your wall like, “You look funny in this pic” and attaches a link, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! I’m pretty sure that what happens is that when you click the link your Facebook account will be hacked and your Facebook account will post links like these to other peoples wall. I’m not saying that all the links on Facebook are spam, but still, keep on the lookout.

I know that this post is going to be really short but it’s just to warn you about this.

Have you ever wanted to start a blog? Do you have a blog?

As you may know, I recently started a blog which just so happens to be the blog that you’re reading right now. I thought I would share some of my tips with you for if you ever want to start a blog.

Tip #1: Pick a good name!

When I first started my blog, I made a mistake. When I created the name for my blog I picked a name but the name that I picked was already taken as a domain so when the time came that I wanted to get a domain I had to change my blog’s name to CPAley’s Tech Blog.

Tip #2: Content! Content! Content!

No matter how many viewers you are getting at first keep producing content. Make sure it’s good content too..

Tip #3: Tell your friends and family!

What is it gonna hurt? If they like it, they might pass it on and that is good!

Tip #4: Participate in other communities with subjects related to your blog.

Many people think that if you start a blog and tell your friends and family that their immediately going to get dozens of views. this is NOT true. Be a part of other peoples websites and blogs too! Who knows, they might have a place for you to put your URL in the comment box! just make sure you are not spamming them..

This is a guest post by Aqual Al:

Right now Apple and AT&T are asking $199 for the iPhone 3G S. The real question is, is it really worth the money to get the 3G S instead of the 3G? When you compare the 3G and the 3G S you start to think, what is the point of buying a 3G S?

Well thats what I am thinking. First of all becuase the only difference between the two is that the 3G S has a 3.2 megapixel camera w/video camera instead of just a 2.0 megapixel camera with no video camera and it is also supposed to be faster. I mean how much faster can it get? A couple of milliseconds is not going to make a huge difference in your life if your like me.

Personally I think it is just a waste to spend $100 more for the 3G S because it’s not like we mainly use the iPhone for the camera. I mean if you wanted a camera, with those $100 you saved buying a 3G instead of a 3G S you could go ahead and buy yourslef a way better camera than the one on the 3G S.

Then there is the video camera, which I think is a huge gimmick. I mean so most of you guys have heard of people jailbreaking their phones and stuff like that. When you jailbreak your iPhone there is supposedly an app store where you can get all these cool apps and you can even get an app that enables the video camera! Even on the iPhone 3G!

Oh, and lets not forget the compass: the most gimmicky thing of all!

Those are my reasons on why the 3G S in my opinion is a waste of $199. You might as well buy an iPhone 3G and save $100! In this economy we are all looking for ways to save some money here and buying a 3G S is not going to save us any money.
