Too tired to go out in the backyard and kick around that soccer ball? Well, now not only do you not even need to go outside, you don’t even need a soccer ball! ARSoccer for iPhone is another one of thoes augmented reality apps, the ones that make things appear through your iPhone’s camera that aren’t actually there in real life.

ARSoccer by LaanLabs sports two game modes and three difficulty levels. You can choose either Arcade Mode of Free Play. Arcade Mode keeps track of your stats, including “hits”, and how long you have been kicking around the virtual ball, whereas Free Play simply lets you brush up on your skills.

One bad thing about the app is the fact that your floor must be perfectly clean in order for the app to work right. Before playing for the first time, the app warns you of this and somehow meters how clean your floor is, not quite sure how it does this but whatever. I have noticed that only on some floors does the app register my kick. On some it will ignore my foot and the app simply won’t work. This would have to be the one and only problem I have with the app.

This app is great for showing to friends [If you can get it working right!] and costs only $0.90 in the Apple App Store.

Do I recommend this app? Yes!

Tweetie (Website) (Review)
Do you tweet? Have an iPhone? Why not tweet on your iPhone? Tweetie is a great app for doing this and it’s also my primary Twitter client for the iPhone. It is  clean, simple, and quite useful. The app supports the new version of ReTweets, and GeoTagging as well.

AutoStitch (Website) (Review)
Ever wanted to make your pictures bigger and wider? Can’t fit all the objects you want into the photo? AutoStitch For iPhone lets you quickly and easily “stitch” your photos together, creating one big photo.

Cube Runner (Website)
Bored? Cube Runner is a free and simple game for your iPhone that is a great time-waster. The objective of the game is to run through the land of cubes without hitting them. The further you get in the land of cubes, the more points you get.

Dropbox (Website) (Review)
So, you want to transfer your photos from your iPhone without syncing in iTunes, or having to Email the photos to yourself. If this applies to you, you NEED Dropbox! There is also a Dropbox application for your Mac or PC that looks like a folder on your hard drive, but is actually syncing across all your computers, your iPhone , and the Drobox website. The basic, free version of Dropbox includes two free gigabytes of storage space but if you click here, you can get 250MB of extra space to store your files!

Paper Toss (Website)
Like Cube Runner, Paper Toss is a great app for if you’re bored. The objective of the simple game is to flick the paper into the trash can for as many times in a row as possible.

Pandora (Website)
Want to find new music for your iPod/iPhone? Pandora, in my opinion, the best online music service (besides iTunes), has an iPhone app! Now you can listen to Pandora while on the go, in a place where your computer is not.

iCam (Website)
Want to keep an eye on your home or office? iCam, along with the iCam application for Mac or PC, lets you use your webcam as a surveillance camera and watch it from your iPhone or iPod Touch. iCam is completely free but you can purchase an add on that enables you to have the option of being notified every time motion is sensed. You can also set it so that it records on motion.

Logitech TouchMouse (Website)
There are two uses for the Logitech TouchMouse iPhone app; a)to play a trick on your family members and b) to use your iPhone as a mouse/keyboard for your Mac or PC.

Ustream Brodcaster (Website)
Ustream, the popular (but far from perfect) live streaming service now has an iPhone app that lets you broadcast live from your iPhone over 3G and WiFi.

Yelp (Website)
Yelp for iPhone is perfect for thoes times when you just need to find a place to get a bite to eat. It is free and really useful.

Finally, Apple has announced the long awaited Tablet that they are calling the iPad. In this post I will be explaining the features of the new device as well as sharing some photos.

Larger Screen (9.7 in.)

The biggest feature of the new iPad is its large screen compared to the screen on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPad’s software makes good use of the larger screen with a bigger on-screen keyboard and drop-down menus.

iBooks

The iPad is perfect for iBooks with the large, hi res LED screen and the iBookstore app from the App Store. This feature will help the iPad compete with Amazon’s Kindle and other E-book readers. With the iPad’s iBookstore app you can purchase iBooks from the built in store and read them right on your iPad.

Accessories

Apple has announced along with the iPad that they will be selling accessories for the iPad like the dock to connect the iPad to your computer or to a power outlet. They also will sell a 30-pin Apple connector to SD card dongle so that you can load photos to the iPad from your digital camera. The iPad will also work with standard Bluetooth keyboards like Apple’s own keyboard for emailing, web browsing and everything else that requires text entry.

Today I am going to be reviewing an app in the Apple App Store called HTMLMailer. Basically all the app does is let you compose, save and send HTML emails, meaning that you can change the font, color and pretty much anything else.

The good:

• Fast
• Lets you save drafts
• Easy to navigate
• Shortcuts

The bad:

• Should be free
• App is useless if you don’t know basic HTML
• No landscape mode
• Poorly designed

My rating:

3.5/5 stars.

$.99 from the Apple App Store.

The bottom line:

HTMLMailer is an ok app with quite a bit of potential.

Should you buy this app?

If you know anything about HTML and need to send HTML Emails then this app is a good buy.

With yesterday’s release of Tweetie 2.1 for iPhone I decided to purchase Tweetie from the App Store. What do I think of Tweetie? I love it. In this post I am going to be giving you my thoughts on Tweetie (2.1) and telling you if you should buy it. However, I am not going to go in too deep on Tweetie 2.1 and all the new features.

The Good:

• Fast
• Retweet feature
• Twitter Lists
• URL shortening
• Geotagging
• Great UI
• Highly customizable

Before Tweetie, Twitterific was my main iPhone Twitter client but now I am considdering switching to Tweetie. That’s how good Tweetie is.

A new WordPress 2 app that is an update to the old WordPress app has been released and I have recently downloaded it. In this review I will tell you my likes and dislikes about and also give you a quick overview of the app.

The Good:

• Faster
• Better comment organization
• UI inprovements

The Bad:

• Stats page not accessible from app
• The UI is still a little confusing

Quick Note:

The WordPress 2 app for iPhone and iPod Touch is a brand new app. Therefore, you will not be notified of it if you already have the previous WordPress app. I do not know why they did this but it will have to do.

TomTom today has released its new TomTom Car Kit for iPhone. According to an email sent out by TomTom, the kit will cost you $119.95 and can be bought off of TomTom’s website. Weirdly enough, TomTom still has not updated their website and the site is still saying that the Car Kit is “coming soon”. It can, however, be bought off of Apple’s website or at the Apple Store for $119.95.

Herre are some of the main features of the kit according to Apple.com:

• Advanced TomTom navigation
• Secure docking that keeps your iPhone well in place
• Enhanced GPS signal for the most accurate positioning
• Easy-to-hear voice instructions with built-in speaker

Back at WWDC 09 when Apple started talking about iPhone OS 3.0 and the App store they announced a new feature called In-app purchases. They also made it clear that In-app purchases was for PAID apps (apps that cost money) and that free apps are going to stay free.

According to Wired.com, “Apple on Thursday sent e-mails to developers stating in-app purchases are now permitted in free apps.” So now you can for example download a free app, test out the interface and if you like it buy the full app right from inside the application.

This should make some developers happy! What do you think?

AT&T has decided to allow VoIP (Voice over IP) iPhone apps to work on its 3G network. VoIP iPhone apps used to only work over WiFi but now can also work over AT&T’s 3G network.

This means that you can now make calls from your Skype, Vonage or other VoIP iPhone apps over 3G and not have to be connected to WiFi.

We still will still not see a Google Voice iPhone app anytime soon because Apple is saying that it copies the iPhone’s functionality and has nothing to do with AT&T’s network.

Have you ever wanted to fit more into your photos? Let’s say that you are trying to take a picture of your house but you but it won’t fit in your picture. What are you going to do?

There’s an app for that! It’s called AutoStitch and it is one of the coolest apps I’ve seen yet. What it does is when you give it photos that you have taken, pictures that slightly overlap, it takes the photos and “stitches” them all into one big photo. You can then crop the photo and same it in your camera roll.
